Next month, I’m going to Dotonbori for the first time after a while. In the city center, there is a canal named the Dotonbori River and I wanted to know what it looked like in the Edo era.
- In 1612, Nariyasu Doton began building a canal connecting two rivers.
- Tokugawa Ieyasu defeated Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the siege of Osaka, and Doton died in the battle.
- Some people closed to Doton took over the task and finish it in 1615.
- After a while, the canal has been called to Dotonbori river.
